when "moron," "imbecile," and "idiot" were technical terms used to describe degrees of retardation (and also to remember when that was not a dirty word.) "Idiot" was applied to those whose brain development was equivalent to that of a child aged 3-5, "imbecile" if it was 6-8, and "moron" aged about 9-12. So, yeah, "morons" may indeed be too nice.
