4. I didn't know there were performance-enhancing drugs that improved

one's debate performance. Do they think he'll wash down a whole bottle of Prevagen pills with a double espresso and a Red Bull chaser? And even if he were to be amped up on stimulants, how will that make Trump's debate performance worse? So then you have a debate between a guy who's talking too fast but makes sense anyhow because he's smart and knows his shit, and the other guy who babbles incoherently about sharks and windmills and thinks Obama is the president and Nancy Pelosi might be Hillary Clinton or Margaret Thatcher and covid can be cured by flu shots.

And if Biden really were senile, all the stimulants in the world wouldn't make him debate better. For the same reason, loading Trump up with caffeine or cocaine wouldn't make him stop ranting about being electrocuted by sinking electric boats or persecuted by the deep state. He'd just do it faster and probably drool more. It would be just like giving me performance-enhancing drugs wouldn't make me be able to run faster or bench-press 300 lbs. They'd just make me crabbier than usual. You can't enhance a performance that wasn't already possible.

He must take them for a reason. That it improves his performance is clearly in the eye of the beholder.

I think it was Bill Walton who told a story about playing an unfamiliar opponent. Last week Mr. trump saying “Maybe I’m better off losing the debate... I’ll lose the debate on purpose” with now another member of GOP leadership giving excuses kinda has me thinking they're absolutely expecting a miserable, flawed, failed performance from him and (as always) will blame everyone but themselves for it after it happens.
