Ecuador president warns of risks to Assange health

LIMA: Ecuadoran President Rafael Correa warned Friday that WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange is at risk of deteriorating health if he remains holed up for much longer in Quito’s embassy in London.

In an exclusive interview in the Peruvian capital Lima, Correa said Assange’s health concerns could worsen dramatically if his now five-month long stay in the embassy goes on for much longer.

“I haven’t spoken with him since he arrived at our embassy, but the ambassador informed me that he is suffering from a slight problem in his lung – nothing too serious,” Correa, who was in Peru for a Latin American summit, told AFP ...

“The solution to this problem is in the hands of Great Britain, Sweden and the European judicial authorities,” said Correa ...

I read posts like this, so I google it to see what happened. I find this documentary from ABC:

Which states that the women said the sex was consensual, and didn't press charges. Assange went to the police, and they informed him he was free to go. But it was in the middle of a political situation, and political forces were clearly at work seeking extradition and pulling strings. The same documentary makes the case that Assange very possibly was involved in more than reporting, but the hacking activity themselves, therefore espionage. In it I hear Hillary Clinton stating the damage, the fact that people can die from these actions. This is about HUGE actions with global consequences, not about what one man did with his wang.

So if your going to criticize Assange, why not focus on the huge actions? My teen/adult life has been defined as the journey from a booming economy under Clinton, to the GWB mess... A transition made possible by Lewinski affair, and a national fixation about what Clinton did with his wang - as if it were more important than booming economy, peace, and all the other huge things that blossom from good policy. Therefore I am extremely uncomfortable when I see Assange basically in the same situation, I wonder what the distraction is calling us to look away from. In the case of Clinton it was the transition away from his policies that had worked so well.

Brave RomneyLies is focusing on a case in which both "victims" (see ABC documentary I linked to) admitted that the sex was consensual, but he should have worn a condom. (rape under Swedish law) And all those child victims of sex trafficking? Of slavery? Nothing from you: But a whole lot on Assange's decision not to wear a condom.

Listen, I love you, but I gotta tell you; pack this clown show up. Your inordinate concern for the vaginas of two women as an international affair, in a world where atrocities happen all the time, really doesn't do wonders for your image. If you want to critique assange's humiliating leaks and they damage they did to the US government, fine. But Don't wave a dick around like Kenneth Star: The whole world has seen where that road leads, GWB and a war in Iraq. The world is sick of that, and wants no part, and thus the PR nonsense surrounding it is now fundamentally devalued, nobody wants to hear it.

Here's an idea, how about being your good moral self? And talking about ALL the people who are involved in bad situations, not just the girls who banged Assange? I think you'd find there's a lot more power in being just who you are, rather than trying to pursue an agenda like this?
