(82,656 posts)I dont care about the term limits as much as an enforceable code of ethics.
9 is enough. It gets unruly with more members.

(17,824 posts)Joe has got to realize that when he's elected, THIS court could destroy everything our country stands for. The ONLY way to stop that is INCREASE the judges. End of story.

(51,085 posts)Supreme Court Justices are "Article III judges," who are according to the Constitution appointed for as long as they behave. The only way to get rid of one under the current Constitution is to impeach the judge in question. Term limits would require an amendment, and red states LIKE that Trump's terrible justices will be there until they die.

Has he reversed his position on expansion?
Without expansion, any other reforms Will likely be useless, as they can be overturned.

(27,386 posts)Eight Democratic senators have co-sponsored a bill that would establish 18-year terms for Supreme Court justices, with a new justice appointed every two years. The nine most recently appointed justices would sit for appellate jurisdiction cases, while others would be able to hear original jurisdiction cases or to step in as a substitute if one of the most recent nine is conflicted or cannot hear a case for another reason.

(4,240 posts)But it will take a constitutional Amendment and that just isn't going to happen.

(314 posts)in that respect. These are co-equal branches of government, constitutionally empowered. One can't just neuter or change the function of another with a constitutional amendment.
