I'll believe it when Obama says it. The media is working for Trump and Russia.

At least not in public. He wouldn't want to embarrass Biden like that. For someone like him, with a real bond with Biden, he'd only tell him something like that in private.

Right before, during or after Trump's speech at the RNC. To take the focus off what is probably going to be a con job presenting a "softer" side of Trump.

6. I've read the recent Guardian articles, didn't see "stepping down this weekend"

I did see all the grousing and gnashing of teeth by those in the "step aside" camp, including from Obama's orbit such as David Axelrod. I didn't find anything relating to Obama himself or his supposed thoughts on the matter.

And I didn't find any statement about Biden stepping down this weekend. If you can find that article and post a link, I'd appreciate it.

I did find a quote from today from Biden's deputy campaign manager:
https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/article/2024/jul/18/biden-dnc-nomination

“When it comes to if he’s open or being receptive to any of that, look, the president has said it several times: he’s staying in this race,” Quentin Fulks, the Biden campaign deputy manager, told reporters on the sidelines of the Republican national convention in Milwaukee.
“Our campaign is not working through any scenarios where President Biden is not at the top of the ticket,” he added.

As well as his quote from today in the Washington Post:
https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2024/07/18/obama-says-biden-must-consider-viability/

Principal deputy campaign manager Quentin Fulks said Thursday morning that Biden’s campaign was moving ahead. “He is not wavering on anything,” Fulks said. “The president has made his decision. I don’t want to be rude, but I don’t know how many more times we can answer that.”[/excerpt]

That doesn't sound like he's stepping down this weekend to me.
