people are having a lot of fun with jokes and memes.

But every message I've seen from someone who actually checked Hillbilly Elegy for this alleged confession from Vance says that the story ISN'T in there.

There are lots of reasons to go after Vance. It doesn't help us to spend any time on a fake story, much as people might enjoy it.

appreciate being lied to.

And you'll hurt the credibility of Democrats in general if they think lying is what Democrats usually do. The Harris campaign might even get blamed if this stupid lie continues to circulate.

And it could end up costing Harris votes from independent/undecided voters, unless whoever you spread this lie to just decides to shrug your lying off as weird and not typical of Democrats or something Harris's campaign wants.

There is no way in which this fake story helps us.
