I have never seen anything like what I am seeing in the response to Kamala's campaign
Maybe America is ready for a woman president?
I have been saying for months that women were the key to this election and now they have a champion to rally behind.

(31,178 posts)I support Biden until the end, but I've been scared. Now we have a huge surge of energy (and money!) that is snowballing into something massive, and winning in November suddenly seems likely.

It's almost as if these right wing men who are largely behind the bans don't realize that every single pre-menopausal woman over the age of 12 or so gets a reminder of her fertility and pregnancy status every single fucking month for decades.

(1,406 posts)Along with others, Hillary Clinton really paved the way for today's reality. She ran in 2008 and 2016, having to deal with endless questions about gender.
Yes, I'm sure our lousy media will get around to nonsense stories, but IMHO as far as voters go, the topic is no longer fresh. Allowing Kamala Harris to run more on the issues with less interference and noise.
Imagine instead that Kamala was the very first woman in this position. The press would be in attack mode.

(1,170 posts)Just ask Hillary. If not for Comey she would have become president and the world would be a much better place. The monster manslaughtered hundreds of thousands of us with his total ineptitude about COVID alone. Hillary would have saved those lives. I want those Americans back! The MAGAts can ALL go jump in a lake of lies and drown to make the world a better place

(97,318 posts)A major step in the world's leaders being women. Much is possible when enough women are in power and work together to make and facilitate the changes we must make in order to survive on the planet in the coming years.
I was pissed at first, because of how it was done ( the pressure campaign part) but after seeing the massive support, I'm good with it. Especially with the damage it inflicted on the opposition.
I am good with Kamala as president, can hardly wait to see who the running mate turns out to be.

This is HER choice. She may or may not read every DU post! Her alternates are being vetted by Eric Holder.
This was Joe's choice. I was (and still am) his buggest fan here. I respect his decision

and his choice as successor.
I am enthused like I was for JFK.
As for Joe, a great teacher wants nothing more than seeing their student surpass them!
Joe is a master.

(10,385 posts)It could have been a disaster but Joe's endorsement coming so quickly and the delegates jumping on it directly after is what saved us, IMO. Any hesitation and the s**t-stirrers would have jumped in with their ideas about mini primaries and other insane notions. You could see it coming. I feel like we made it through the most dangerous part much better than I expected, and now it looks like maybe it's going to work out.
I'm very happy about having a woman at the top of the ticket, and Kamala is definitely on offense already!

(97,318 posts)I'm at now. After some reflection, I think it was a master move to flip the narrative and upend the trajectory of the opposition's campaign, which it has.
Yeah, I'm good with it now, wasn't like Joe was going to leave us hanging.

(23,058 posts)Especially among young people.
Love Biden, he's the greatest president of my lifetime, but young people were completely unenthusiastic about him and were really looking for a change. This switch has unleashed a tidal wave of enthusiasm and hope. Young people registerd in droves in 2020 to defeat Trump, Joe Biden got a record 81 Million votes. Those people aren't going anywhere and they're going to support Kamala.
The campaign could not have gotten off to a better start.
Quiet Em
(2,086 posts)and I'm stunned by how quickly she clinched the nomination. Listening to VP Harris and President Biden yesterday in Delaware got me all fired up.
It's funny, in the 2020 primary I was all in for Harris, was shocked when she withdrew, and then immediately rallied around President Biden.
This year it was the complete opposite. Shocked by President Biden withdrawing and immediately rallying around Harris.

(1,166 posts)For 2 weeks I was defending Biden here on DU.
Then he quit and I was despondent.
But seeing the response to Kamala makes me feel pretty damn good. Pretty damn good.

(12,021 posts)I was one of President Biden's ardent supporters (still am) but . . .
There's no denying the excitement and the overall shift in the election atmosphere, the way voters have responded to the change. It's been lightening fast (I mean my God, Harris already has the requisite number of delegates).
I will always love and respect President Biden. I think he's done an incredible job, far exceeding my expectations. But after all the turmoil, Biden's decision and swift endorsement of Kamala Harris has turned the page.
Trump and his Flying Monkey Brigade are howling in disappointment (this makes me very happy).
I, too, am feeling pretty damn good about our electoral prospects.

It still depresses me that society is so ageist and that there were so many people who couldn't be excited by Biden's accomplishments. But I guess in this social media age, optics have become supreme and attention spans shorter.
It is sad that a portion of our society is more interested in being entertained than they are about experience, integrity, and knowledge.

(19,853 posts)Even in states that go Republican, when Kamala over performs in them, the message will be clear that she made breakthroughs in their fragile veneer like no other Democrat has been able to do.
I can see Florida, North Carolina, going into her column. Texas could be in play as well. Colin Alread is tied with Cruz. That is a Senate seat that can be flipped as we hold on to the seats we have. Rueben Gallego is ahead of Kari Lake in AZ. With Kamala at the top of the ticket, the races for the House and Senate are in play.

(4,640 posts)I think this level of excitement is really monumental. . . . I very much liked Biden and would have voted for any Democrat on the ticket, but I am so happy with Kamala. I supported her in 2020 until she dropped out of the race. I live in San Francisco and can remember when Kamala was District Attorney. When she dropped out, I was so pleased that Biden chose her as his running mate.
She is smart, tough and enormously talented. One of my favorite videos of Kamala? Her interrogation of Beer Boy, Brett Kavanaugh, during the Robert Mueller investigation.
Kavanaugh is absolutely pathetic! I can't wait to see what she does to **$$Y-Grabber!
