"You think gas prices are high now? Wait until you're forced to drive an EV."
On edit---yes she said it.

(41,410 posts)Maybe she really is that stupid ... I don't know. But she definitely thinks her voters are that stupid.
She plays the "dumb blonde" deliberately for the MAGA crowd. If I were a voter in her district I'd be entirely insulted.
Another factor is that she plays dumb for Chump because she knows that he feels threatened by intelligent, educated women. Up until the other day she was still auditioning for the VP job. But that's over now.
I really can't wait until somebody primaries her, but it won't happen for this election.

(18 posts)Reading the tweet, and then Pete Buttigieg's response to it, I'm not sure he's right. If demand dropped I could see the oil companies cutting back on production to try and maintain a certain level of price so we'd probably have to see. But, I do agree on what he said.... that MTG probably didn't do much thinking about it at all

(76,591 posts)But, that would stimulate demand for electric. So, it would be a death spiral.
During the peak of COVID, prices fell to lower than the cost to produce. So, they all greatly reduced production. Given the excess inventory, the prices didn't budge in response to production cuts.
We do agree that producers & traders regularly manipulate supply to assure their bets always win.
But, on a more global scale, their power gets greatly diminished.
