since opium and cocaine were freely available over the counter in the late 1800s.

Face it, most people use drugs for pain and within 3 days or so, are desperate to get back to normal. Most people prefer clear heads to a narcotic haze. I saw this over and over in surgical units, people who had extensive surgery and significant pain trying to tough it out without medication because they just wanted their brains to work right again.

The whole drug war is based on bogus principles and based on tax law because the entire edifice is unconstitutional otherwise.

Worst of all, it hasn't worked. Our country is flooded with drugs. The only difference between now and 110 years ago is that the drugs are far less safe since black marketers don't care what they're cut with.

End this overpriced farce. End it and take the profit out of drugs and destroy gangs all over the planet. End it as a way to continue to oppress non suburban, non white people. End it as a waste of money and human life. Just end it.
