Epitomizing Tasteless The Olsen Twins

Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen Selling $55,000 Backpacks Covered in Prescription Pills

Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen have amazingly found a way to outdo their over-the-top $39,000 handbags for The Row.

In collaboration with artist Damien Hirst, the fashion designer duo are now releasing $55,000 backpacks under their label.

And get this: The bags are covered in prescription pill appliqués.

Yes, pills.

Only 12 of the $55,000 backpacks will be made, and some of the proceeds will go to UNICEF.

I wouldn't buy one if for no other reason than it's not attractive. Another reason is that I wouldn't spend that amount of money on anything like a bag. I guess it would be better to make a direct contribution to UNICEF.

I'm not really certain but I'm thinking that even if you call it "art" or some such notion distribution of restricted, prescription drugs just might not be legal.

And the Olsen twins are so far from popular and in the "in crowd" with the government agents I doubt they can get them all to look the other way. It's not like they're Justin Bieber. Their flame faded a long, long time ago.

Those two puzzle me. Is it really possible to be so shallow? Anyone who would pay $50,000 for a backpack is just as bad as they are.

1. Seven Theses

*Organisms have life- and death-instincts.
*Society is an organism.
*Society has life- and death-instincts.
*When the life-instinct is predominant in a society, the result is a renaissance-type society; when the death-instinct is predominant in a society, the result is a decadent society.
*When the death-instinct in a society reaches an extreme, it turns into its opposite, the life-instinct.
*Decadence, or the death-instinct, has now reached an extreme in most Western societies.
*The death-instinct, having reached an extreme in most Western societies, will now turn into its opposite, the life-instinct.

The thing we're all missing, is that there must be people in the Olsen's world who would look at that backpack and relate to it. And, oh, by the way, also have $55,000 to spend on a good cause.
