YOU are not the issue

It is possible that YOU are an over-the-top asshole who makes no sense and that people object to things you say on their particular merits.

When you find yourself on what should be the no-brainer side of an argument, yet face a ton of static, it is possible that the static is about YOU and YOUR statement of the issues, not about the issues.

There are very few people here who are pro-murder, pro-rape, pro-slavery, pro-disease, pro-war, pro-pestilence, pro-famine, pro-evil... some, of course, but probably not many.

But they may well be anti YOU... against the way you think about complex issues, against outright lies in a "good cause," against straw man arguments and insinuation and cliquish McCarthyite hysterics.

YOU are not freedom and love and hope. And yes, someone can say, "I think you are full of shit" without being evil.

But there certainly have been many posts that were apologies for rape. And many posts minimizing the harm that it has done to many of us.
