I get the sense that the movement's usefulness to the PTB is over and that Republicans see it as a liability rather than an asset.

(31,706 posts)...but we heard Grover threaten about version 2.0 for 2014. The astroturfing worked in 2010 when many Democrats stayed home and tons of money bought a lot of seats. The same trick didn't work this year where you had a far larger and more organized opposition and electorate. For the most part the teabaggers became a liability to the rushpublican party this year (especially in Senate races) and there are some groups that are changing their name and distancing themselves. But it's all window dressing.
After licking their wounds and making a few more billions, the Kochs and others will be back with a vengeance in 2014...repacking their shit and hoping no one notices. They'll once again focus on the Senate...where Democrats in red states will have a tough time defending their seats. Democrats need to stay involved and prepared for the next wave of Citizen United big money. It'll take a couple of expensive beatings at the polls to get the message across...
