PPP: Republicans not handling election results well

Source: Public Policy Polling

PPP's first post election national poll finds that Republicans are taking the results pretty hard...and also declining in numbers.

49% of GOP voters nationally say they think that ACORN stole the election for President Obama. We found that 52% of Republicans thought that ACORN stole the 2008 election for Obama, so this is a modest decline, but perhaps smaller than might have been expected given that ACORN doesn't exist anymore.

Some GOP voters are so unhappy with the outcome that they no longer care to be a part of the United States. 25% of Republicans say they would like their state to secede from the union compared to 56% who want to stay and 19% who aren't sure.

One reason that such a high percentage of Republicans are holding what could be seen as extreme views is that their numbers are declining. Our final poll before the election, which hit the final outcome almost on the head, found 39% of voters identifying themselves as Democrats and 37% as Republicans. Since the election we've seen a 5 point increase in Democratic identification to 44%, and a 5 point decrease in Republican identification to 32%.

an alternate universe, the fact that 49% of them " think that ACORN stole the election for President Obama" is it.

No wonder they are not handling the election results well given the fox news world in which they reside.

They are mad at this last election!!!! No they are not angry, I am. I am totally pissed off at the whole Republican Party. They have always been unscrupulous for the last 50 years. But they have now turned friends into enemies, or people we thought were reasonable into the enemy. This time they went too far. Voter Suppression is just one example of all the stupidity that they have inflicted on the American Public.

The worst is that since 1964 the Republicans have said they wanted an all white party. Now they have it and don't want it. I could care less. The Republicans actually wanted us to vote for Ex Governor Willard Mitt Romney for President. I still go back to the Denver Debates when he came out and LIED from the word go. Then every Republican and their MAMA went to lifting this hideous fraud on their shoulders and said he didn't mean all those things he said for the last six years. Kiss my Ass on a sunny day with that bs. I watched people who couldn't stand Mitt Romney, give him glowing marks for those ridiculously ignorant LIES from HELL. They turned on a drop of a dime. I kicked some of my republican associates to the curb for that VERY THING.

Dr. Martin Luther King was a republican. Colin Powell is a republican (voting democratic). My Grandfather was a stone republican until his death at 92 years old. Those men I respect and respected. I cannot find a republican that I can respect. When they sided with that LYING ASS Romney and acted like his SHIT didn't STANK after the Denver Debates, They can play in on coming traffic for all I care. Anytime you find someone who knows a person is LYING and you side with the LIAR, It just means birds of a feather flock together. That is why I call it the Racist Party. They wanted an all white party and I for one plan on keeping it that way!!!!!

-Grover Norquist is largely unknown nationally, and among voters who are familiar with him he is generally disliked. Only 15% have a favorable opinion of him to 37% with a negative one, with 48% not holding an opinion one way or the other. Even among Republicans just 18% see him positively, while 23% have an unfavorable view. Only 23% of voters think it's important for politicians to follow Norquist's tax pledge to 39% who think it's not important and 38% who don't have an opinion.

been reading at the fetid swamp known as FR, and they're in a fine frenzy over Speaker Boehner and his "purge" of teabaggers. Many of the Freepers are wanting to go or start a third party, a "Tea Party" which they believe will no doubt garner five hundred gazillion votes and sweep them into power.

So I strongly encourage them to start a third party, especially now! The timing is perfect, and they can take a run at the 2014 mid-terms, and divide the Republicans so badly that the Democratic Party takes back the House nice and easy. So by all means, if you (or anyone else reading this post) knows a wingnut, encourage them to go third party! Tell them it's the only way they'll be able to "save 'Murica" or whatever twaddle they subscribe to. But certainly, don't hesitate at all to encourage their delusions of third-party victory.

important lessons - how to pay attention, listen, absorb the facts and do their homework. Maybe they were in some of these huge classes where the students get very little one on one attention. Any of the respondents who believe the ACORN bs should have failed kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grades. Yet they were promoted. Unfortunately, the country's stuck with them until they fall on their heads or go back to school. So sad. So many people voting against themselves.
