the health/science reporter for our local ABC affiliate just did an interview with a doc at Yale-New Haven Hospital who said that severe morning sickness could mean she was carrying twins...
So who gets the succession to the monarchy?
(Something new and exciting to get worried about, folks!"

(7,515 posts)You can be sure the doctors would make sure of that...it need only be a matter of seconds. The real question is 'if there is a boy and a girl, will they be sure to take the boy first now that the rules of succession have changed?'

(63,912 posts)I don't know if they have a real choice with a multiple birth anyway.

(7,515 posts)A lot depends on the position of the babies...but it's probably safe to assume there will be at least 2 obstetricians at the royal delivery....

(601 posts)Not even a little bit. In fact, any mention of "royals" bring out my inner Bolshevik. I need to find a way to tolerate the next nine months of CONSTANT FUCKING BABY STORIES about these people. Sigh.

(22,308 posts)I mean, who really cares if the figurehead monarchy of England gets two more members or just one?
I know I don't. It is a curiosity, at best.

my taxes were going to support these parasitical anachronisms.

(601 posts)Those people (the "royals" are a ridiculous useless luxury that GB does not need. The taxpayers pay millions and milions to this already-rich family to do what? Put on frumpy ugly clothing and wave at the plebs? The royalists defend it by saying "it's good for tourism". Really? How many tourists get to have a beer with Wills or Harry when they visit England?
OFF WITH THEIR HEADS.

Seriously, one can not delve into world history without learning about the royal families of the world. Escpecially Queen Victoria and how her ilk spread over the globe.
OK now my mom is inside my head screaming, "Monarchist!"

(601 posts)is no basis for a system of government. Supreme executive power derives from a mandate from the masses, not from some farcical aquatic ceremony!

I heard on the radio he wasn't doing very well. Maybe he has twins too!

THEN 2 years later I was pregnant with twins -- NO morning sickness.
EVERYONE is different...Trust me....no 2 pregnancies can ever predict in the tenth week what
the baby is going to be...people are so gullible.
And it's NOTHING I would worry about anyway....

(8,646 posts)women with more severe morning sickness are more likely to be carrying multiples (that doesn't mean it's guaranteed though). But I agree with you - every pregnancy is different. I had 4 singletons - all girls. Every pregnancy was totally different. Morning sickness for 5 months with one, none with the next, sick for 9 months with the next, sick for 2 months with the 4th....one was born on her due date, 2 were exactly 2 weeks early and 1 was exactly 2 weeks late. You can't fucking predict anything for sure with a pregnancy.

(63,912 posts)just that that was in the mix of reasons why she had the bad morning sickness....probably a little bit of exaggeration on his part but I was thinking of the implications of that situation...if I were a twin in line for the crown i wouldn't accept no "which one was first down the birth canal." I would say "hey, we were both conceived at the same time and incubated in the same womb and only one could emerge at a time, so it's not fair that he/she gets dibs on the crown."
It kinda gets silly at that point and the U.K. looks silly too...

(36,063 posts)To my knowledge the mother of my children never got morning sick.
On the otherhand my second wife who got pregnant with her boss's sperm prior to our divorce, had a lot of morning sickness.
Her morning sickness went away withing days of her aborting that pregnancy.
IMO, endocrinology can be just or unjust.
