Congressman Steve King fails to advance in 'sexiest person' contest

By Judy Kurtz - 12/03/12 03:42 PM ET

Rep. Steve King may be a kingmaker in the Republican Party, but there’s one area in the Hawkeye State in which he doesn’t wear the crown.

After being nominated for a “sexiest person” competition, the Iowa Republican failed to make the final cut. King was among about 120 people nominated and vying for a spot on Des Moines Cityview’s “Sexiest Person in Des Moines” contest.

The blue-eyed lawmaker, 63, had stiff competition in order to be named among the magazine’s 16 finalists, including from a man who holds the “Mr. Gay Iowa USofA” title and a longtime Iowa news anchor.

While he couldn’t seal the sexy deal, it looks like King certainly has some admirers in his home state. The mag tells ITK that more than 6.5 percent of the voting public gave King a 10 — the highest possible score — on the sexy scale. King’s office didn’t return ITK’s request for comment.
