Shapiro will be her vp choice. It just makes sense to me, at least.
We are so fortunate to have such a deep bench of very qualified candidates. I really like every single one of them and to a man, they would be an outstanding vp candidate.

(1,406 posts)Note that the timeframe has been super condensed. She's the candidate only recently. So they needed to set up the imporant rallies (which have to be planned well in advance) before making the pick.

(7,694 posts)Shapiro has held stances that MAGAs can chew on while Walz doesn't.

(12,011 posts)We've just heard more attack points against Shapiro because he's the frontrunner. Sadly, they've set it up now so that if she doesn't pick Shapiro, it's going to be seen as her caving to the left flank and snubbing him by doing the first rally in Philadelphia (even though that venue was set before she decided). They are also going to paint it as a snub to Jewish voters and "proof" that the Democratic Party has become pro-Hamas and what not. Which is dumb, because Shapiro has been as critical of Netanyahu as anyone else, but the pressure against him from the far left has been pretty disturbing and frankly some of it is anti-Semitic. There are good reasons she might have for not picking him, but those will be overshadowed.
If she picks Walz he'll be attacked for being too liberal, failing to contain the riots in Minneapolis in the summer of 2020, a 30-year-old DUI, 9 years of votes in the House, and who knows what else they have on him.
Both are great choices, but neither is free of baggage.

(8,186 posts)So many reasons to pick Shapiro, but a big one for me is: Any vp choice is gonna get an avalanche of slime, all have baggage, all are pro-Israel so let's go with the guy who throws the best punches, so good at putting them on the defensive. The best communicator of the bunch.

(12,011 posts)I can see scary ads now with Minneapolis on fire and Kamala's tweet about raising bail money.
If not Shapiro, they get publicity for two states.
The Philly rally was announced as week ago.

(1,866 posts)I think I read the rally was announced over a week ago (?). Would make sense to hold a rally there regardless. If Shapiro notVP pick he will still campaign heavily for her.

(10,522 posts)Fine with Shapiro, as with others. But cant see VP Harris dissing him in his home state by announcing it before the rally.
DUer Doodley above does make a good point.

(12,011 posts)If she wasn't already sure she was picking Shapiro, scheduling this rally in Philadelphia seems like a little bit of an unforced error in terms of coming across like a snub.
