Sen. Dennis Kruse, who tried and failed in the last legislative session to let schools teach creationism along with evolution, said Tuesday hes trying a new approach: Requiring teachers to provide evidence if students challenge their science lessons.

(32,822 posts)...in a debate I was having over same-sex marriage.
Someone claimed that faith in a deity is equivalent to faith in imaginary numbers such as root of 1.
I countered with pi * 10 = 30 in Kings, then dragged out a measuring tape and used it on a circular garbage can, deriving a value of 3.1-and-a-bit.
I couldn't remember the mathematical proof, but I could certainly disprove a value of 3.0 on observation of reality.

(20,176 posts)when somewhere down the road after that shithead gets his way and gets creationism on the agenda, some educated 5th grader forces a science teacher who of-course doesn't believe in creationism to provide proof of creationism.
"I'm sorry. I have no proof because creationism is a lie, Dani."

student: "I've heard it's B."
teacher: "How could you find out, whether A or B is correct?"

It's the opposite of indoctrination.
It's the opposite of belief.
It's skeptical thinking.
It's doubt.
It's getting out of your comfort-zone and doing some research and reasoning.
