A small clarification: The Republicans did not "win" the House in the last election.

They "held" the House. They actually lost seats in the House. It is true they maintained their majority.

But, the reality is, they lost the presidential election almost by a landslide, at least electorally. They lost seats in the Senate as well as the House. It was not a "status quo" election. True, the people did not choose to throw them out on the street totally but they did put their suitcases on the curb...

Democratic candidates received more votes than their gop opponents, but thanks to re-districting, democratic votes were concentrated into fewer districts.

No according to Republicans, who were quoted numerous times speculating that Romney would win more than 300 EV AND the popular vote, and such a win would be a landslide...

is reason for house win. The Dems had a million more total votes for house seats than did Gop. They take two Dem districts and make
them one. Pretty soon they will take house next door and across the street from your district.
