How the hell can you be so sure Bob? Since you admitted you're a recovering alcoholic it seems to me you may be projecting. Also Bob, could you point me to the studies that correlate murder-suicide with alcoholism? I'm willing to concede there might actually be some since alcohol does tend to lessen one's inhibitions and impair good judgement. But you still have to prove to me the correlation.
On the subject of not being allowed to purchase a gun. Exactly how would we get alcoholics into the national database so that when a background check is done before a gun purchase you'd come up as a person prohibited from buying a firearm? Should we patrol AA meetings or pass laws requiring therapists to register their patients, who believe their sessions are private, as alcoholics. And what about that huge gaping hole in which all the alcoholics who never join AA and never seek treatment exist? How are you going to get them registered.
