And because the President is a cold-eyed, steely assassin who ordered the killing of Bin Laden he knew that the time to strike was after he was re-elected.

He knew that a public option or raising taxes on the rich or a mirade of good ideas he has to help the 99% was not going to happen during his first term. The reason they weren't going to be allowed by the pukies was because the results would have would have made him look good and the old white mans club couldn't have that. No sirree can't be having this President look good it might encourage others other than an old white man club member to strike out for the oval office.
Thats why the OWMC recognized early on in Clinton's first term that Hillary very well could break their glass ceiling and thats why they've been on a Hillary character assassination crusade since.
