Senator Jim Demint wanted the minimum wage reduced and for the poor to pay higher taxes

and if you wonder how widely shared his beliefs were in the Republican Party and in conservatism in general...

that's why he's been offered the job to lead the Heritage Foundation.

the thing is, what Mitt Romney said in private is actually what mainstream conservatives believe.

Just as yesterday showed that most conservatives would vote against the Americans With Disabilities Act if they had the chance (but the treaty ratification was another route --with the bonus of yesterday's vote giving the finger to the UN).

shitty apartments and crappy beater cars and dollar-menu nutrition--why are they so greedy and selfish? They never want to sacrifice for the good of the country. Sheesh. And don't get me started on the disabled...

How all those voters can completely ignore their own economic interests because of the social issues the GOP continues run on is beyond me.
