You've been warned: Confront Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer about global warming, and she will curse at you and, maybe, if you're lucky, she'll take a swing at you, too.
A reporter for the local KTVK station in Arizona had the gall to ask Brewer if she thought global warming was real during a very short, very casual press conference about an energy conference this weekend. Brewer said something about it not being man made,
(snip)
After her answer, a handler swooped in and whisked her away, but about three paces out she turned back around to face the reporter who asked the last question. He had turned to a camera operator and seemed to be putting his microphone away. Brewer took her left hand, balled it into a fist and with the back of her hand she slugged the reporter on the back of his right arm. Not hard, but with enough force that he spun around to see what was going on.
After hitting the Welch, Brewer asked, "Where in the hell did that come from?" and the camera was still rolling, so the reporter included it in his report. Unfortunately, the punching wasn't in the shot which is why we're just hearing about the thwack now and so the world is denied a Jan Brewer punching GIF.

I guess it proves that men aren't the only ones that can be power hungry.

Everybody has an opinion on it, you know, I, you know, probably dont believe that its manmade, the GOP governor said. I believe that, you know, weather elements are controlled, maybe, by different things.

(6,819 posts)be legitimate or illegitimate. Everyone has an opinion. This woman is a whack-job. We have so few women in governing positions, it's distressing to see that Arizona has one so stupid.

Add to when she "blanked" on TV, yelled at and stuck her finger in Obama's face.
If I see Brewer admitted to rehab within the next year or two, I won't be surprised.

To many FACTS are getting into the myths of GOP political practices. This can only mean trouble for the minority party which has plenty of money but is still the party of LOSERS.

(10,303 posts)That news reporter should file charges. There are other assignments he can cover. No one should be hit, whether it is a couple of "nobodies" or someone more prominent.

(3,581 posts)It was all on camera, and it was obvious that there was zero possibility of any kind of injury. Nevertheless, the woman who did the swatting was charged with battery, and had to spend time in anger management classes. The woman who had been swatted was subject to prolonged ridicule, because she was shown on camera to look around, carefully get down on the ground, and pretend to be badly injured.
It was in CA; I don't remember what town.

(9,999 posts)had nothing to do with her attending anger management courses. The fact that she had that over-reaction to a question about her stand on climate change - as opposed to a more personal attack of some kind tells me this woman is a bit unstable. As others have suggested - maybe an alcohol problem?

(758 posts)been ridden hard and hung up wet. I remember the debate where she completely shut down, couldn't answer the question, stuttered, hemmed, and hawed, clearly didn't know what to say. She's done that in other interviews. She's incredibly inarticulate. Then there's the picture of her sticking her finger in the president's chest, appearing to scold him. How did Arizona managed to elect such a witch?

(758 posts)Would be great if he would press charges. Politicians shouldn't be allowed to go around hitting reporters or their camera crew just because they don't like the question.

(51,124 posts)It's a beautiful state filled with ugly people. It's difficult being a liberal surrounded by wingnuts. The amount of ignorance is disheartening. During the election I heard some of the most crazy easily debunked crap from fellow defense attorneys: death panels, both Obama's were disbarred, etc. I have enjoyed having the following as my wallpaper on my iPad which I proudly display "accidentally" every chance I get:

And as a bonus, here's my favorite Brewer photo:
