(30,745 posts)tell me what he thought they were doing. He could not guess. When I told him, he smiled.
It gives both of us hope.

(26,623 posts)He also smiled! He used to be fairly homophobic. About 20 years ago, we got new neighbors; 2 gay guys. My husband was not happy. One day, our other neighbor asked my husband to help him help the new guys move some furniture. My husband grudgingly went. A couple of hours later he came home. He'd had a couple of beers, but wasn't drunk, and pronounced to me: "they're just regular guys!" Best damn neighbors we ever had! Hope we get marriage equality in Colorado this year so our friends can finally get married too.

(161 posts)I'm 50, I've got the gray beard and fear I may need the cane within the next decade.
My partner's 8 years older and has recently been diagnosed with cancer.
It's my dream to marry in Ohio, like both of our parents did, before either one
of us shucks off our mortal coil. I hope it happens. We can't go anywhere else,
all our family is here and there are people who truly depend on us being around.

A gay self-created stereotype from the 70s.
Man... it's hard to get by w/o stereotypes of one kind or another.
AlbertCat
(17,505 posts)Well, the "gay bear" stereotype is also alive and well.
Aerows
(39,961 posts)anyone should be judging them for it. They obviously love one another, whose business is it.
I love pictures like this of our community that are doing what they want to do, and don't try to mind anyone else's relationships. If two bears want to come together, then I am all for it.
AlbertCat
(17,505 posts)Being a member of the "bear community" myself, I see couples like this all the time.
Not all stereotypes are negative.
Besides, it's how the human brain organizes things. Of course it's good to realize stereotypes are useless regarding individuals.

(for some reason this reminded me of this woman I knew who thought gays couldn't grow beards )

(22,482 posts)Geeze!
Aerows
(39,961 posts)Don't look at it that way. These look like two men that love each other. We all look alike when we love one another. We form our little tribe of two and more if there are children. Love that lasts long enough that you start to look like one another is a beautiful thing.
My parents have been together for 50+ years. They look alike. They look like they fit with one another, which is what love does to you .
JackBeck
(12,359 posts)The LGBT community and African-Americans traditionally vote for Democrats, so clearly, that's not a bad stereotype.
But after researching your post about 'clones', I'm still at a loss as to what your point is with your post.
