This looks and is bad today for DeSantis. It will look and be worse after Milton has hit. Grotesquely irresponsible.

Ron DeSantis has refused to take a call from VP Harris on Hurricane Milton, source tells @ABC.
White House Press Sec says "If you have POTUS & VP reaching out to offer up assistance...the governor, it's up to him if he wants to respond to us or not."

I hope this bites him in the ass. What an irresponsible knob!

Fwiw, the HAFS-B shows #Milton intensifying even more this afternoon-evening, becoming a sub-900mb monster.
Then, later tonight it explicitly forecasts an eyewall replacement cycle, then even more intensification tomorrow as #Milton passes over the loop current, threatening Hurricane #Wilma's all-time low pressure record in the Atlantic (882mb) in the process.
With less than a month before the election, DeSantis is playing petty politics while this hurricane is turning into a monster that could blow Florida off the map. DeSantis is a soulless moron.

Why people in Florida don't light torches and march to drag this cowardly failure out of their state house is beyond me.

(80 posts)Ive ranted about our idiot governor many times on DU. His refusal to accept calls from the POTUS and vice president due to an imagined political perception is just insane. DeSantis is playing politics while we Floridians lives are at stake. Just another attempt at a right wing power play
or is he having surrogate mental issues? I cant wait to vote him out.
Vote Harris/Walz!

Here's what's coming at Florida until Milton becomes a Cat 1 over the Atlantic. Millions have waited until it's too late to get out of the path of the cone to safety.

And if things do get serious, it's going to be even harder to get stuff in there, being that the roads will probably be damaged, debris everywhere, etc. It's going to make the job of rescuers much, much harder.
Governor Idiot. Certainly, some of those people surrounding the governor has been through a cat. 5 hurricane before and can tell him just how nasty this can be. And sure, they may know the anticipated path, but these can change at a moment's notice too, if I'm not mistaken.
I hope for all that the hurricane will weaken, I do have friends of mine that live in Tampa/St. Petersburg.
