I don't know what I'd do without DU.

I said before I’m kind of laid up with a broken foot so I’m bored and anxious and obsessed over the election and the storm. Here I can vent and laugh and get information and just feel understood. In a world full of intimate strangers you all really do feel like friends and contentious family. I appreciate you more than you know.

I’m hyper vigilant as hell anyway so can never look away and pretend it’s all not there. Plus I had fantasies of being a journalist as a kid. The fact we’re living in such “interesting” times is mesmerizing and horrifying. Sharing here helps a lot!

Third, fourth and fifth metatarsals, dancing.
No fun at all! I had to have my cast replaced three times because I kept walking on it. Bad me!

The last time the doctor said go home and keep it propped up and learn how to play baseball from watching it on TV.

I'd never even played but I learned the game that summer.

I hope you get well soon, nolabear! Love you back.

DU is the best community of people who have so many sentiments and sensibilities in common, as democrats. It's enabled me to feel understood and not berate myselfas being crazy, like I did before I found DU in 2017. Bush was bad enough, but tsf, set off all my alarms.
So glad you're here, nolabear, and hope that foot gets better quick.

A couple of years ago I broke my leg and ankle.

I'm terribly accident prone. Since I was three. So many accidents.

Then I bought a Stool on wheels. I'm sorry you can't use a scooter thing to ride around. The Stool was actually cheaper and smaller. I zoomed around. It was actually fun. I'm a bit silly though.

She's fine. That said, she is literally to uncoordinated to use crutches. It is not good form to outwardly laugh at someone struggling to use a devise like this. This was one of the funniest things I have ever seen . Wife is brilliant but such a klutz. I chalk it up to being left handed.

You are not alone.

Best wishes.

In April 2016, my husband suddenly died. That summer I got breast cancer (surgery chemo). Then, of course, November 2016. So basically at night: my strong DU people, plus watching about 20 years worth of British murder mystery, Midsomer Murders. Now, in the night, it’s DU and YouTube’s of rain.

I think I found DU around 2004. I was a lurker, but I couldn't go to bed without checking in. Come to think of it, I still get my work done and then I get to come here and enjoy the conversation and community. I lost my login to my first account, but my user name was about the same. I was usually too tired to comment much – until after retiring in 2011.

Your voice is one I always enjoy, even when I don't comment. I'm sorry to hear about the foot and the boredom.

Get better soon, please. Hope you and all of us are dancing before long.

I fractured an ankle. It was a bad break, and required surgery. So I know what you're going through, and how miserable it was. The good news is that all the rest was worth it, because my ankle now works without problem.

I now vote my mail in the Chicago area, where I expect my ballot won't be subject to dirty tricks. Despite that, I have been climbing the walls about getting my ballot. A few hours ago, I got an email saying that it's now in the mail. I'm relieved.

Anyway, I love that I can come to DU and share my anxiety over this election...and many other things. I've been here 23 years, and if it suddenly disappeared, I don't know what I'd do. DU keeps me sane.

Hope your foot heals quickly, nolabear.

I apologize for repeating myself, but in situations like this, I’m always pulled back to a post by Skittles awhile ago. So short ‘n’ sweet but BOY-oh-BOY does it pack a punch:

“Someone’s always here.”

It’s the plain ‘n’ simple truth in just three words, and as memorable and fitting as can be. I’m fixated!

Take good care, nolabear. We love you and need you!

Yes, I love being able to have a back and forth with mostly like-minded folks! And the vast majority of DUers with whom I disagree or who disagree with me are civil and genuinely interested in a truthful debate. And I believe we have common goals, even if we don't agree in how to obtain those goals.

Besides I like a place where I can gripe about politics without associating it with my irl identity.
Dont like to attract the attention of strangers irl..

I never got the social media thing. Don’t want would be doxxers nor greasy data capitalists knowing one exists.I am a wary sort of person . But I am interested in politics.
Thankfully, the admins keep this site pretty secure.

And one gets to know the various posters’ personalities over time without any need for actual names or identities.

Feel better nolabear ..hope your foot heals soon!
