I'm amazed at his strength, I've never heard of anyone in hospice so long especially at 100yrs....I bow down to you President Carter

(27,180 posts)I assume he will be voting absentee, and there is no way to know if he has received his ballot. I don't know the dates for mailing & returning absentee. I used to vote by mail or drop box, but the mail service has gotten so slow I decided it was best to vote early in person.

(43,915 posts)But if a former President who is not a convicted felon, rapist, scumbag hits the 100 year mark, a voting apparatus should be brought to him/her and they be allowed to vote in the comfort of whatever surroundings they may have. And the cameras should be rolling.
Another thought as Bel would say, if trump is a convicted felon can he vote or is that just one more wink and a nod?

(1,426 posts)...she rips off her rubber double-o-seven-esque rubber mask, revealing herself to be Nancy Pelosi, and she grabs the ballot at its top two corners and rips it elegantly down the middle. And in her best Soup Nazi voice, she says, "No Vote For You!"

(663 posts)brought some memories from my MIL passing back on February.
President Carters condition appeared much like my 87-year-old MILs shape in the past couple of weeks of her life. She slept lots and her mouth was similarly agape.
I spent a few nights on morphine duty, giving her a dose every two hours around-the-clock. I dont think she ever knew although her eyes would open when I gave her morphine. Ive never been more04
We got her mail-in ballot and waited as long as we could to ger her to complete it. I tried a few times to get her ballot completed, but she never truly woke up. We ended up taking the blank ballot back to the clerks office a couple
days after the epection.
If I were solo in taking care of her, Im pretty sure she would have possessed compos mentis enough to vote. But, I have a BIL, who is the #2 at my countys sherrifs department, and who is a man that I have almost 100% total respect for. He is ethical, almost to a fault. The topic came up a few times on filling out my MILs ballot. He was absolutely against our casting votes for her. He is a Democrat. Ive not felt he snookered us. Politics aside, hes a good man.
I really hope President Carters final days are filled with his mind being completely cognizant of his surroundings and with his family drawing super close.
Now, Im praying President Carter can survive until after the election.
