Yes. We dont have hunger because we cant feed the poor. We have hunger because we cant satisfy parasite billionaires.
Fuck you, Jeff Bezos.

(3,290 posts)Don't know how I'll live without Amazon. I knew I should given it up when he bashed unions. Before that, independent book sellers. Besides my friend who works for them in horrific conditions. But I couldn't find what I wanted at other sites. This must finally be the line. If I want WaPost jounalists to give up their jobs, I can live with a little inconvenience.
Can some businesses step up please? You don't have to sell everything, books is enough. It can't just be those of us willing to suffer, for this to succeed there has to be a viable alternative. There are millions of us ready to sign up.
We also need to replace Twitter and the Washington Post. I know this is easier said than done, but the model that works is out there and a ready clientelle.
Years ago I chose a socially conscious cell phone service--Working Assets, now Credo mobile, until we moved to a place that didn't get their service well enough. We caved in to my teenage daughter who had to have it. But while it lasted it felt great to patronize a company with morals. I'm going to revisit it--see if they've improved their range. How great it feels to patronize corporations with a conscience.
If we fund the oligarchs, the oligarchs win.

(4,710 posts)It will be harder, less convenient, likely more expensive.
But it seems to me the time has come to make a stand.
I will not pay one red cent to a fascist billionaire.
Every other aspect of my tiny economic life will be examined closely as well.

(3,290 posts)We shouldn't underestimate the sacrifice. But why stay on at a fascist newspaper. I hope they will be hired by newspaper who respect them for their choice.

(3,290 posts)who is supposed to be Fred Trump
JHB
(37,793 posts)I thought I was clear in the OP that the Chamberlain figure in this situation is Jeff Bezos.
Apparently, Fred came into it when a poster saw a superficial resemblance between 1939 Neville and 1970s Fred. I don't see it myself. Being that Fred was a guy who was either a Klansman or was happy to join in alongside Klansmen, I figured he'd have more affinity with the guy who was the target of Neville's wishful thinking. Sure enough, in what looks like a pre-war headshot photo, he's sporting a mustache style that went out of fashion real quick a few years later.
MadameButterfly
(3,290 posts)yes, you were clear in the OP and I agree with all your points

I rather fancy Jeff Goldblum bears a resemblance to me. Details omitted.

(21,179 posts)But Fred Trump wouldn't have nearly that much gray in his hair in the 1930s. He was born in 1905, so would have turned 30 in 1935.
Neville Chamberlain was born in 1869.

(37,793 posts)That one looks pre-war. Surely that style of mustache quickly went out of fashion after Hitler declared war on us.
