Dog whistles have long been used in politics. Lady BlahBlah remains an expert, saying nothing intelligible to us mere mortals but speaking eloquently to the socially defective with whom she is so popular.

Mitt's not very good at it, but Newt's a virtuoso. "Food Stamp President" may have been his finest hour. Some of the preacher politicians were also pretty good at it, particularly around the abortion and gay marriage issues. The gun lobby is, by contrast, more direct with their agenda.

Surely the left also employs dog whistle maestros. What are the Democratic dog whistles?
