I have a question are we here at DU really going to be able to be in this fight to save our Democracy.

I had a post block yesterday for not Supporting Democrats. I appealed the block and won on appeal. But a post that sits for 24 hours before being released is, as they say, sits in the dustbin of history.
https://www.democraticunderground.com/?com=view_post&forum=1002&pid=19987074

Are we in this fight or are we just casual observers?

I think democrats who are just sitting on their hands and collecting their paychecks NEED TO BE CALLED OUT by all means possible.

Only a VERY SMALL portion of the Democratic members of Congress seem to have the "BALLS" strike that,.... intestinal fortitude to stand up and fight. At the head of the public opposition, two women have more "intestinal fortitude" than most of their male counterparts.

AOC Today https://www.democraticunderground.com/100219986805

As a veteran who took an oath 60 years ago to follow in my dad's footsteps, I still honor that oath as he did. And I think of all the unknown young men and women who have died in defense of the oath to defend the CONSTITUTION. And especially four of my high school classmates, whose names are among the 58,000 names on the "Wall" who died in our generational war.

I'm fighting for those who no longer have a voice.

I'm not willing to give up so as not to hurt someone's feelings who sits in Congress and collects a paycheck and plots how to keep their seat by not muttering a word in opposition to the OUT AND OUT ASSAULT on our democracy.

This from another post this morning on these pages.
A 25-year-old engineer named Marko Elez, who previously worked for two Elon Musk companies, has direct access to Treasury Department systems responsible for nearly all payments made by the US government, three sources tell WIRED.

Musk and his band of twenty-year-olds have been given access to OUR (yours and ours) financial records.

RAISE YOUR HAND if you are alright with the BULLSHIT!

USAF-Vet: I am a USAF military brat, so maybe we are wired in a similar way.

To win a war, you have to face reality whether you like that reality or not.
To make the best battle plan it must be based on facts and evidence.
Not wishful thinking, not the most negative outcome, but the truth.

Yet when some of us try to be realistic based on data, facts, evidence
we are shot down for not being positive.

Well damnit, I am trying to win a war, not sing songs around the campfire and
have a good time.

We understand the dangers of letting the blitz regroup, resupply, and consolidate. High pressure must be maintained.

It’s a heck of a lot harder to prevail if they do. I don’t see the will for a D-day out there.

Being defeated quickly and "rolling over" are very different things.

Many French continued to fight and die after the initial defeat of 1940.

He could not believe it and had to fly to Paris and confirm it.

Well yes there was French resistance after their total surrender,

It is so that when we are on a jury we can understand why a OP might have some critiques and criticisms of Democratic officials. Following the rules of DU is what is needed.

If the OP were in the way forward we would not be having this conversation.

Emotions are running high. I am not putting USAF Vet in the brig. That person has made their own choices.

I simply pointed out that the OP may belong in a different forum. Rules matter. Laws matter.

No, I really don’t think so. It is to shut down those who might have a different view. That is what I think you are doing in this thread. Carry on.

...call them and tell them how you feel.

What's not acceptable to me is imagining you're speaking to them by posting on a Democratic message board, and doing little more than generating cynicism with generalizations about only a 'small' number of Democrats who have 'balls,' as if that dubious masochism actually represents strength.

This is a civilian government, not a military operation, and most Americans deal with what challenges them with resolve, not necessarily relying on masochistic histrionics.

Has it occurred to you that many people may not respond well to shouty appeals?

I'm looking for guidance and leadership on how to land some real, effective punches.

Sadly, I'm still looking.
I haven't found anything where I feel my efforts could contribute to making a difference.

I will never give in or give up.
This struggle is bigger than the country.
It will probably decide where we go as a species from this moment onwards.

The perfect title for a book about the past 45+ years would be:

WHILE THE NATION SLEPT

And that exp includes Dem Leadership and Politicians:

Documented by: the lack of outrage and hell raising by them, about:

Citizens United, the 2000 election, the 2004 election, the 2016 election.....Or even going back to the 1980 election, when HWBush and his CABAL committed treason to steal the presidency from Carter.

In my opinion,

They were all hiking down the jungle path, swatting at mosquitoes, oblivious to the Herd of Charging Elephants....pun intended.
