- and before anyone responds,
I respectfully request you seriously consider your response if you're not Black,
and before anyone assumes my friend's age, they are 54 years old -
that my major problem with TikTok and why I never made an account,
is that I think it and things like it are wrecking our collective attention span.
One of their defenses was "the revolution is being televised on TIkTok"
I said, "Maybe you don't really understand that song."
I couldn't explain why, but it felt wrong to me for them to put that song in that context.
I still can't explain why. And I'm not sure myself that I really understand the song

(13,147 posts)Are a few different things I took from the song
First a revolution wont make money for corporations. They wont be able to exploit it because it tears the corporate state apart and people can realize there is a life beyond capitalism and consumerism and thats the last thing corporations want to draw attention to.
Revolution wont happen if you are in your livingroom watching tv or on your you tubes, you have to physically leave your house and seek out like minded people.
Thirdly people need to come together in person to have a revolution because a revolution to be effective needs actual community and connection to others in person to share resources share the work march or fight together and to aid one another among a million other things.
And
It by necessity creates the bonds that bring equality annd justice itself to fruition and changes the very fabric and structure of society for the better. It helps you realize hierarchical power is empty.
I hope what I said was ok. Not intending to offend.

But I made that request to try to slow down any clueless kneejerk responses.
Your second and third points clarify things for me

White lightning, or white people
You will not have to worry about a dove in your bedroom
The tiger in your tank, or the giant in your toilet bowl
The revolution will not go better with Coke
The revolution will not fight germs that may cause bad breath
The revolution will put you in the driver's seat
The revolution will not be televised
Will not be televised
Will not be televised
Will not be televised
The revolution will be no re-run, brothers.........................
The revolution will be live

Why do you think they are so he'll bent on banning it? It sure ain't about data protection LOL.

(8,170 posts)The video links in the comment answers by the creators is brilliant, as is the stitching together of different videos from different creators.
Plus creating a video on the fly is so easy. And the way information can get quickly relayed is great as well. And a lot of the shorter videos can get really creative as well.

(8,021 posts)or don't know how to easily use it properly. If you're not seeing exactly what you want, you're doing it wrong. I've got my FYP dialed in perfectly, I see just the right mix of who and what I want to watch.
There's a reason it's one of the most popular apps, and it's not because it sucks.

(13,147 posts)In seeking followers to your feed list look for blue hearts in descriptions look for certain phrases like cute winter boots and soup for my family. Magats try to infiltrate liberal spaces also block Elon musk trump instagram meta official pages and block any and all sites that relate to them. Your feed will stay clean and it will be left side only. People organize and so many people are so eloquent and to the point when they have 10 minutes to talk. Some posts can be like a half hour long too.
The 50 states protest started on TikTok btw.

(1,588 posts)Was gifted with foresight and a great bullshit meter. Some of the other things he rapped about have come true ie the United States has become a consumer nation rather than a producing nation. He was a man who felt things deeply and saw things most Americans didnt want to see, it also caused some self destructive behaviors.

(15,444 posts)The revolution begins when YOU show up, in person. If you're watching it on a screen, you're not an active participant, but that's what is needed now.
