My cancer is back
5 weeks ago I went to the doctor because of a lump growing on the right side of my chin. Had a
CT scan of my head and found a enlarged lymph node in that area, they did a scraping on it and
said it was cancerous.
Then, since I had vocal cord cancer 3 years ago they did a complete CT body scan and said the
mass growing on my chin and neck is a cancerous tumor plus they believe cancer is back on my
vocal cords. Surgery Monday to take a scraping from vocal cords, seems like overkill, why can't
they just run a camera down there and look like they've been doing since my radiation treatments?
Or am I missing something?
Meanwhile that lump keeps growing and has spread to my entire chin left to right and is starting
up the right side of my face enclosing my ear shutting down my hearing. On my third prescription
to reduce this mass and nothing is helping so far. Doctor appointments every day next week.
Because of everything going on with my health I've decided I better get all my affairs in order and
finish some projects. So I'll no longer be doing the daily toons but I'll help anyone who wants to
take up that task. Best for a retired person with no full time job, just send me an email, always
willing to help. Sorry to let all the Toon lovers down.

And, I have had many experiences with those who can maintain their positivity throughout difficult medical issues. So, I'm counting on you to do the same. Not sure where you are getting care. Kansas City has some excellent oncology programs, but no matter where, just hang in there and let them find out what is going on. Lots of new immune therapies have emerged--even since your last episode.
I believe I can speak to all of your DU family in saying we are here for you and just want you to take good care of yourself.

Please post when you can, to let us know how you are doing. It's smart to get your affairs in order, but I'm going to hope that the doctors will find a way to beat the cancer, and you'll just have some paperwork stacked somewhere for some day way off in the future.

I believe that healings that seem miraculous can always happen, and I hope that will happen for you.
I also believe, based not on religion but on my own experiences and those I've heard about, including from people I've known who were grieving, that our spirits live on, and we all have reunions with loved ones to look forward to on the other side. But I'm praying for as much time here in as good health as possible for you, for the best help possible, and for strength and comfort and reassurance.
Cancer is, indeed, insidious. And yes, sometimes it's like playing a deadly game of whack-a-mole.
We're dealing with something similar in my family at the moment. It's scary and utterly exhausting.
Btw, you're certainly NOT letting anyone down. Time to concentrate on and give time and care for yourself.
