The people who crafted that amendment did it in a world of single shot muskets - how hard is that to grasp?

Maybe it hasn't been a civilian yet (it almost was with the mall shooting) but almost universally the shooters give up when people with guns show up.

It has been reported that the shooter killed himself just as the first responders showed up (with guns).

Just like most of these lunatics do, when the police show up, they know they are about to be met with unstoppable force, so they kill themselves.

10/1/1997 - Luke Woodham put on a trench coat to conceal a hunting rifle and entered Pearl High School in Pearl, Mississippi. He killed 3 students before vice principal Joel Myrick apprehended him with a handgun without firing a shot.

4/24/1998 - Andrew Wurst attended a middle school dance in Edinboro, Pennsylvania intent on killing a bully, but shot wildly into the crowd. He killed 1 student. James Strand who lived next door he heard the shots and he ran over with his 12 gauge shotgun and apprehended the gunman without firing a shot.

1/16/2002 – Peter Odighizuwa opened fire with a handgun at The Appalachian School in Grundy, Virginia. 3 people were killed before the shooter was apprehended by 3 students armed students Mikael Gross, Ted Besen, and Tracy Bridges.

12/9/2007 – Matthew J. Murray entered the Youth With A Mission training center in Arvada, Colorado and killed 2 people, then went to the New Life Church in Colorado Springs, Colorado killing 2 more. He was shot, wounded and stopped by church member Jeanne Assam. He committed suicide before police arrived.

And now the main reason for my response to your inaccurate post.

2/25/2005 – David Hernandez Arroyo Sr. opened fire on a public square from the steps of a courthouse in Tyler, Texas. The shooter was armed with a rifle and wearing body armor. Mirabel Estrada, his ex-wife, was killed at the scene, as was Mark Allen Wilson. Mark drew the shooter’s fire by firing with a handgun, hitting the shooter but not penetrating the armor, and ultimately drove him off, but was fatally wounded.

With the cartoon. The second amendment has failed to do what its proponents have claimed it would do.

By the way, it's not as though I think our government is so rosy and nice. I think our government stinks to high heaven with all the corruption and lack of empathy for the regular citizen. The government has encroached everywhere with its desire to take away civil liberties, but I haven't seen a single gunman brave enough to march down to Washington to defend his right to not be surveilled 24/7.

These pro-2nd amendment folks aren't even remotely trying to make the government listen to them. They have zero effect on maintaining freedom and liberty.

But, they love their guns.

How are they going to issue warrants to websites and blogs? There is bullshit all over the internets...I don't understand why they focus on that and not the root cause.

When they see their fellow citizens getting beaten up, maced and dragged off to jail for exercising their constitutional right to protest injustice to this society, do they run out with their guns to protect these people from the gubmint? Hell, no. They don't protect anybody from anything. EVER. They're too cowardly. They just want to own guns for the illusion of power they get from it. Period.
