(34,079 posts)today I was thinking about some of the undocumented people I've worked with over the years...since the 70's! I worked in the hotel/restaurant/country club biz in multiple states. When I was in West Palm, and Palm Bch for 5 years I worked with 2 people that grew up in Florida. My undocumented coworkers were from around the world. Argentina, Ireland, Canada, Lebanon, I worked with one guy who was Iranian which was bad, so he said he was from Iraq. Cuba, China, Taiwan all over the world. There would be dustups from time to time where someone would worry about their status, but mostly it was a point of interest like the and only person from Indiana. Then I went to Nashville in the 80's. We were sitting a table in the lounge, the singer in the band asked us where we were from, we said New York, and he said 'Welcome to the United States'. So weird, I didn't get it. Someone had to explain what it meant.
