How the newz is framing No Kings

I’ve watched a few newz shows briefly and their explanation of No Kings is

1) it’s because of immigration raids and
2) because it’s his birthday 🙄 and they want to “send a message”.

No mention of an unprecedented military parade at all.

I won’t be watching but I dread the expected fawning coverage of the military spectacle.

Of course it's at Sox Park.

So it will draw some people away from No Kings. But, it's also drawing attention away from the fascist celebration.

2. I love that the Pope is wearing a Sox hat and gathering at Sox Park.

Sox Park is in the heart of the city in a more diverse community.

When he was first selected, his brother talked about the Pope’s upbringing in Chicago and when asked whether the Pope was a Sox or a Cubs fan his brother clearly said he was a Sox fan.

However, the newz – – purposely in my opinion – – ignored what his brother said, and reported that he was a Cubs fan. This may not seem like a big deal, but it is actually. It’s political. The Cubs fan base is more right wing and less diverse.

So by wearing the Sox cap, he is making it totally clear where his loyalties lie.

the ricketts bought the team and were so maga

That was too much. But lots of liberals have been cub fans including Eddie Vedder from the band Pearl Jam who is very outspoken against trump.

with the media suggesting a single or limited number of reasons for the protests (including missing the whole "no kings" label) than with them missing one specific reason.

6. You're right. People don't even understand the title itself.

I’ve had to explain it to friends repeatedly sadly.

Indivisible is doing a great job of organizing but our narratives need more work.

that people contact local media and inform them of what is happening in their community. Local media is much more likely to report on local happenings than those with a wider focus plus local news may filter upwards and make it more likely that national media will report on it.
