CNN conservative commentator Scott Jennings straight up called California a failed state during a hit on Tuesday night. Ironically, Jennings made the comments just weeks after new data from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA) revealed that Californias GDP is now greater than Japans making it the worlds 4th largest economy.
Its amazing to me. First of all, this guy is the governor of a state, and it has got one of its most important cities burning on his watch, and hes out here launching a presidential campaign. I mean, theres no other way to listen to what happened and not conclude that he just launched his presidential campaign on top of this lawlessness thats going on in California. He governs a failed state. He sits at the top of a failed state, Jennings said, while responding to Newsoms address regarding Trump federalizing and deploying the National Guard to Los Angeles.
And he sits, I guess, at the leadership right now of a political party thats wanting to coddle the illegal invasion of our country thats causing whats happening. Its not particularly controversial for Donald Trump to enforce federal law, our immigration laws, and yet to Democrats and to Gavin Newsom, its an affront to them for the President of the United States to enforce Federal law, Jennings continued.
Notably, Trump deploying troops to a state without the governors consent is something a president has not done in 60 years, since the civil rights era. Critics of Trumps decision have pointed to LAPD Chief Jim McDonnell saying that his officers were confident they could handle the situation and contain any level of escalation.

Congratulations Jennings. You just outed yourself as being an idiot.

They're using AI slop and video of the recent Paris Soccer Hooligans, ain't they?
A colleague just went up to LA for a conference near downtown yesterday. Drove up himself, saw a few protesters and in his words "more freaked out guys in camo than in a 'Gun Show of The West' at the Texas State Fairground" .
No roads blocked, and he felt safer around the protesters and homeless than he did around the riot police/guards/whatever.

(1,062 posts)A few nights ago some looters cleaned out some businesses, and the mayor and city councilman for the downtown area were concerned about it getting out of hand like it did in 2020 when A LOT of places were robbed which is why the LAPD is now on tactical alert and a curfew of about a mile square exists. This area involved is really pretty small (unlike in '20 when there was looting all over the damn place). Mayor Bass tried to get out ahead of whatever might happen because Garcetti was criticized for letting things get out of hand during the Floyd protests.

That's still not a reason to claim L.A. is a lawless burning hellscape, where young women going home in the evening have to avoid getting kidnapped or shot at by gangs staking out their territories or sweeping through the city streets en mass...
Oh, wait...

(1,062 posts)I live here. Trump and his GOP sycophants peddling talking points are idiots (that's been established) and the military didn't need to be brought out based on how things stand currently. That's overkill to say the least.
That said, I'm not necessarily against the massive presence by local law enforcement. The nights following protesting days can quickly get out of hand and I think Bass and company knew the Feds weren't going anywhere anytime soon. Given protests were gonna continue (and likely grow) till they do, there was a danger of unrest spiraling out of control like it did five years ago.

Everything out of this guy's mouth is a lie. What value is there for a news channel to give this fella airtime?
I can't think of any comparable liars from the left. FOX has Tarlov on as their "balance" from the left, but she doesn't lie and call people names. In fact, her comments are more accurate and responsible than any of the panelists.
The Republican Party is broken.
If they had anything to offer to the American people, they would not have to LIE ABOUT EVERY GODDAM THING!

The Republicans could rob a childrens charity right in front of the cameras and none of them would care. Therefore, neither does CNN.

He needs to work on his acting skills to get up to the caliber of the usual corporate shills working there.
