Guard Soldiers Deployed in Trump's LA Crackdown Aren't Getting Paid Yet

https://www.military.com/daily-news/2025/06/11/guard-soldiers-deployed-trumps-la-crackdown-arent-getting-paid-yet.html

The 4,000 California National Guard soldiers who President Donald Trump surged into Los Angeles remain unpaid due to delays in issuing official activation orders, leaving compensation and benefits in limbo.

According to more than a dozen Guardsmen across four units who spoke to Military.com, none has received formal activation orders, the critical paperwork that not only authorizes their duty status, but also unlocks pay, Tricare health benefits and eligibility for Department of Veterans Affairs services. Without those orders, troops remain in a legal and administrative limbo.

Multiple defense officials with direct knowledge of the situation told Military.com the chaotic and sudden activation of troops has effectively clogged up the flow of administrative work.

Those Guardsmen will likely receive formal orders and the proper backpay within the next few days, but that hasn't eased the concerns for troops anxious over potential financial strains and juggling family logistics, as the Guard does not assist with child or pet care. Though with the mission only a few days old, troops haven’t missed a paycheck yet.

The Military takes care of its own. Guard personnel in LA protecting the world from liberals AND THEIR FAMILIES are at the mercy of a convicted felon and an alcoholic. And their civilian employers are potentially left short handed by a rapist with an ego problem for no apparent reason.

This episode is not a recruiting commercial in the making.

Is not detail oriented. In the olden days (6 months ago) the pentagon worked like an intricate machine. The transformative gang of millerites has turned it into a yugo. Mr president I told Pete to do IT, whatever the fuck IT is. Well what are we doing next week?

On a side note, saw on the news this PM that soldiers from Fort Riley Kansas have been ordered to DC to participate in trumps birthday nonsense. It seems those invited don’t want to show up.

A rain out might save trump the need to explain damage to the streets but it won’t reduce the fraud, waste and abuse.

They probably wouldn’t have gotten paid before the 1st of July with or without orders and here’s why. When reservists or guardsmen get called up there is a “pay cut” date in the pay system, it’s 10 days before the next pay date which is either the 1st or 15th of the month.

Basically say a guardsman gets called up on the 8th of the month, well the paycut date was the 5th for the 15th of the month paycheck. So the earliest paycheck they could get would be the one on the 1st of the next month because the paycut date for that would be on the 20th or 21st.

When I supervised reservists it was usually an inconvenience getting their pay started depending on what day their orders started. Everyone just assumes that it start on the next paydate but that’s only true if the order to start their pay was entered prior to the paycut date for the next pay date.

So glad I’m retired lol.

And there would be no shadow thrown at this nonsense if the recall was due to a legitimate need.
