The Senate isn't liking the House's 1-sentence "Trump answers to NO COURTS" poison pill in the budget bill

The one-sentence provision appears in Sec. 70302 "Restriction of Funds," and reads, "No court of the United States may use appropriated funds to enforce a contempt citation for failure to comply with an injunction or temporary restraining order if no security was given when the injunction or order was issued..."

According to HuffPost, "Contempt citations are an essential tool for the courts" because "they allow judges to threaten fines, sanctions or even jail if people disobey their orders."

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) told HuffPost that the contempt provision Republicans slipped into the massive spending bill was "a naked attempt to shield members of the Trump administration from court orders," essentially allowing them to operate with impunity, much like royalty.

"Not only does this provision appear to violate the constitutional separation of powers, it also violates Senate rules," wrote reporter Jennifer Bendery. "Republicans are relying on a fast-track legislative process known as budget reconciliation to move the bill, which means everything in it must be related to budget matters. Restricting judges’ abilities to hand down contempt orders has nothing to do with budgets."

Anyone who brings a suit against Traitor will need to put up a collateral bond to reimburse the govt if they lose.

Iow, if you want to take Traitor to court prepare to put up a few million dollars.

I believe the parliamentarian will force them to strip this too but who the fuck knows anymore

...and the "defense" we seem to be getting from House Republicans who voted for it is "I didn't know it was in there, because I just signed it, I didn't read it."

It's good to know that the Senate is reading it.

The Republican Politicians, literally don't have to do anything anymore, but merely vote how they are told to vote.......
And if asked about anything, immediately divert the question to pre arranged talking points about how wonderful Trump is..........

the Republicans, but several dems also. The exception is that those particular dems I mention, don't vote with the rest of the dems..........

Here in Colorado, our two U.S. Senators..........Hickenlooper, (and 19 other Dems) voted WITH the Republicans on some egregious Bill in the past few days.......
AND Bennett is spending all his time campaigning for Governor of Colorado..........

I guess no one's every going to have the guts to ask Roberts "Did you give any thought to the fact that granting total immunity to Trump MIGHT BE a bad idea, and that he might turn on YOU, too?" He runs to them with EVERYTHING, and then stamps his little feet when they don't unanimously give him what he wants. And I really struggle to believe Roberts didn't anticipate that happening.

He doesn't belong there and he and his literal goon squad are abusing their power. They all must go and go directly to maximum security prison. With Fox News and social media cut off. Hell, Fox should be in there with him.

Don't like it too? Doesn't mean much if it's only Schumer. They can't pass it by reconciliation with that sentence in it.

FROM THE SAME ARTICLE:

Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA), chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, released his committee's changes to the judicial section late Thursday night. Notably absent was a "jarring, one-sentence provision that House Republicans buried in their 1,116-page bill," according to HuffPost.
