Two Minnesota state lawmakers were shot in apparent "targeted" incidents on Saturday that left them in grave condition, officials said, and a manhunt is now underway for the gunman.
A source familiar with the matter tells ABC News that the victims are state Sen. John Hoffman and state Rep. Melissa Hortman.
Both were shot at their homes and authorities believe the shooter was impersonating law enforcement, the source said.

My additional words: The shooter was dressed like a cop.
The location are not far from Anoka, where a "No More Kings" protest was scheduled. That has been canceled, according to a phone call from my wife, who was there in Anoka to participate. She is coming home.

(149,445 posts)Last I heard, they were searching in Brooklyn Park. My wife is going through there on her way back from Anoka.
Shocking!

(125,905 posts)and is that why they canceled the Anoka No Kings event?

(149,445 posts)I haven't heard any more from my wife. She would be coming home on 169. So, I don't know if she's going to be caught up in the area that is being shut down. I doubt it, though.
Sounds like a planned and targeted thing, though, so it will probably be contained in a small area. If they know who the shooter was and what vehicle he was using, that will help, but I don't know that information yet.

(149,445 posts)It is a huge story, though.

(50,443 posts)that they're not real cops. And with Trump going beyond the rule of law, there is no win-win for anyone who choses to barricade their own door for their own safety.

(149,445 posts)My wife, who was in Anoka for a No More Kings protest, is home safely. Brooklyn Park, which is very near Anoka, borders HWY 169. That north/south route through that area, was not shut down, so she came home from Anoka without any delays, but not without some anxiety.
Minnesotans are not used to this kind of mindless violence against public officials. I guess we have to start protecting ourselves from repeats of this kind of shit in our own state now.
Damn!
