The difference in the motives of the MN shooter(s?)...

If the guy is caught and it turns out he's even marginally left of center, Faux "news" and other right-wing "news sources" will be all over it, saying "We told you so! They are Antifa! George Soros paid them! The liberal media encouraged them!" etc...

But if the shooter(s?) are far-right?
"They are mentally ill..." Or even that the shootings were "justified."

what if we are wrong?

Curious if the victims had any strong positions that would seriously piss off a demented "left" winger. Like I/P topics perhaps? Doesn't make sense to target state officials for that, unless they had taken stands about how I/P related activists should be handled.

I did a google news search on the manifesto and all I could find is that it contained a list of names but the police are withholding further info about motive. One source also quotes the police saying the list contained "quite a few" names. If we knew they are all D's (we DON'T know, yet), that would put a big hole in any other theory than RWNJ targeting D's.

My money is still on reich-wing, just exploring the possibility your post raises.

which can be from either party but definitely lean one direction, at least on the nuttier side.

I do know some liberals who oppose broad gun-safety legislation but the ones I know are at least open to some of the more specific proposals.

One good example: Banning assault weapons.
How would we enforce a ban on them?

No longer being able to sell them is incomplete, who would enforce a ban on existing assault weapons?
Have the ATF go door to door ransacking houses and businesses looking for the "wrong" guns?

Existing gun laws need to be enforced better.
Felon caught with a gun, straight to jail.
