(120 posts)In Rutherfordton, about 120 folks on the courthouse lawn, mostly peaceful, reassuring to hear so many supporters honking their horns in support as they passed by...but there were a few tense moments when a man with an SS shirt and his girlfriend (?) walked through our crowd, not threatening, but certainly not welcome. The most tense moment was when someone was stopped at the light at the corner, gave us the finger, opened up his console of his oversized pick up truck and brandished his handgun, waved it at us, pointing it at us, pretending it was an automatic and gunning down the crowd.
His license plate was reported to the police, the same police who denied our request for security. I expect nothing will be done. Ugh, I am heartened by the crowd, but with the news about Minnesota, I am beyond consolable.
