Great turn out at Flint, MI No Kings rally (Edited to add photo of counter protest)
A long stretch of a major north/south shopping district street was full of people and signs. The reception from the passing cars was overwhelmingly supportive. Lots of them had signs with them. Naturally we got a few birds flipped out way but it was nothing in comparison to the supportive waves, cheers and horns honking.
There was a 'sort of, kind of, almost 'counter protest' which was made of of 4 people who parked at the plaza across the street. They had something trumpy on one of their cars and one fragile looking man was holding an American Flag. They never quite made it to the street side. After about 30 minutes they left.
I was told there were 3 or 4 other cultists at the far end of the rally. They had arrived early and, according to a woman who was standing with us, they were armed. I think they must have given up, too.
The Sheriff's Department and a Michigan State Trooper car drove by, probably just to check on things. This was a 100% peaceful gathering. I'm anxious to see if any local news bothered to cover it and give a crowd estimate. I'm not counting on it, though.
And, yes, I'm tired. I'm going to pour myself a beer and try to come up to trigger my appetite.
