A senior living community in my area also held their own No Kings protest
This warmed my heart.
COLONIE — Over 100 residents of the independent living community Shaker Pointe were protesting Saturday, inspired by the “No Kings” demonstrations happening around the region and across the country. The protests are in response to the policies of President Donald J. Trump's administration.
The event was put together by Shaker Pointe residents Elizabeth “Bunny” Mow, Richard “Dick” Shirey and Catherine Scanlon. The three wanted to do their part to contribute to the larger day of action, so they decided to stage a protest outside the independent living community off Delatour Road in Latham.
“Catherine got on the phone and was able to reach over 100 people that said they wanted to be a part of this, and that was just people from here,” Mow, 98, said. “It was really exciting. Dick went out and got the cardboard and the markers for us.”
