I didn't go, but this is a good report with pics and video from our local radio station, WBVP:

This is a red area and the county overall voted for Trump. The crowd was reported at 1,000-1,500, which is the largest number I've seen for the various protests that have been held in front of the county courthouse. Usually the protests draw a few hundred. It was also impressive that many folks showed up given the rain. The regular few cultists showed up to counter protest, but only a couple dozen or so.

(28,427 posts)It is a town where the major cable news networks went to interview Magats.
That town is bright red Magat, great to see such a blue turnout.
It does have a delicious pastry shop in the middle of town.

(4,152 posts)Twenty years ago, I participated in a few rallies in front of the Beaver County Courthouse. Those rallies were for causes such as withdrawing troops from Iraq and promoting economic justice.
I am sitting in a popular Beaver County dining spot as I type. The tenor of the habitually vociferous Trump supporters has been muted in the last few months.

(23,477 posts)to call them out for their reporting. They said there were hundreds of protestors at the Allegheny County courthouse yesterday. The pics I saw looked like thousands! Then they showed a protest in Washington county and interviewed MAGAts. Why wont they tell the truth?

(4,152 posts)At one time, KDKA was the powerhouse of the AM and TV airways in Pittsburgh. It sank about thirty years ago. The AM station was spun off. The TV station has gone through changes in its management.
As a side note, I will mention that all three Pittsburgh TV stations raked in boocoo bucks from McCormick Senate campaign interests during the 2024 election cycle. Too many Western Pennsylvania voters fell for the for Putin-funded TV and yard sign propaganda.

Maybe WPXI will have better reporting (we cant get WTAE).

(4,152 posts)Mr. Burnett died a few years ago from complicationss from CTE (Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy) resulting from his college football days at the University of Tennessee. At the end of his career, he and Mr. Martino were paired in a KDKA-related late evening news telecast on a Pittsburgh CW cable station. Mr. Burnett was a bit halting with his speech because of his condition. Mr. Martino was his friend, and presented himself as being slightly intoxicated to cover for Mr. Burnett's delivery. They gave off the appearance of being drinking pals. The programing did not get much viewership, but it served as a sweet tribute to the two fine veteran reporters.

(23,477 posts)happened to Jon Burnett. My Mom (RIP) really liked him. Its sad how KDKA has morphed into what its become. But then I remember the days of Bill Burns, so going way back.
My husband grew up on the street behind Patrice King Brown and they graduated high school together. Really nice family and I would talk with her Dad as he took a daily walk around the neighborhood. Patrice was as sweet in real life as on TV.

(16,825 posts)The protests were the lead story and took up at least the first 5-7 minutes of the newscast. There was about 10 secs of time, if that, given to Trump's parade. The reporters did interview mostly protestors, but there was an interview with 1 cultist each during the segments from Westmoreland and Washington counties. KDKA noted there were no, as in zero, counterprotestors at the Pgh rally and that when the main rally ended another one quickly sprung up.
