Found this on my facebook feed this am:
JP Tasker, CBC News asked Carney: President Trump says tariffs are simple, and what you're proposing to resolve the trade dispute is complex. What's he talking about? What have you pitched that's complex?
Carney thinks, then says: Complexity is in the eye of the beholder, sometimes.
HIT: Trump stable genius notion falls like a big, fat, orange sitting duck.

Justin Ling, Freelancer asked: I wonder what you make of [Trump's] comments suggesting that it was personally offensive to Vladimir Putin to kick him out of the G7 after the invasion of Crimea.
Carney replied: With respect to... personally offensive... to put it mildly... the citizens of Ukraine and the inhabitants of Crimea when Russia invaded, in 2014 -- was the cause of their ejection from the G8.
HIT: Trump's factually incorrect support for Putin is blown away, and the bullseye is moved onto Trump's loving allegiance to Putin.

In the press shooting gallery, Carney is a marksman.

At the G7, Carney was pressed,
With tough questions he deftly addressed.
He said trade isnt plain,
Though Trump might complain
And Crimea? Offense was expressed.
At the G7, Carney stood tall,
While Trump called trade simple and small.
Complex? Carney mused,
With facts, he's confused
Its not golf scores, it's global protocol.
Then came Putinoffense, quite the feat,
For being booted from the G8 seat.
Said Carney, deadpan,
Ask Ukraine if you can
They recall that 'offense' with some heat.

I like to dabble in creating limericks, because the form lends itself to snark & satire. I am an amateur, but it is fun.

I could suggest New England, and perhaps throw in New York as a bonus. I think much of the west coast would be a nice addition also. Gun nuts can all move to Idaho where they can blow each others' brains out (not much to clean up after.)

(470 posts)You can pick up New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, Washington DC and Virginia on the east coast. On the west coast you can add Washington, Oregon, California and Hawaii. Those are all blue states. If Arizona wanted out we could also bring in Colorado and New Mexico. Just because Pennsylvania made a mistake is no reason to exclude us.

(1,184 posts)I thought that was a very astute and pithy comment.
The last "A" in "MAGA" is all about false nostalgia. We have had many moments of greatness as a country, but progress moves forward, not backward. Our past includes slavery, oppression, denial of rights and much targeting of minority groups. Nostalgia is not a strategy.
