NEW YORK The US Holocaust Memorial Museum on Wednesday condemned any comparison between World War IIs Warsaw Ghetto Uprising and the term Globalize the Intifada, a day after New York City mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani cited museum materials while drawing such a correlation.
...
On Tuesday, Mamdani was asked about the phrase Globalize the Intifada during an interview on the podcast The Bulwark.
Intifada literally means uprising or shaking off. But it is mainly associated with the Second Intifada in the early 2000s, when Palestinian terrorists killed hundreds of Israelis in suicide bombings. Globalize the Intifada is a common refrain for protest groups calling for Israels destruction and the ostracization of Zionists in the US.
Mamdani declined to condemn the phrase and, in its defense, evoked the Holocausts Warsaw Ghetto Uprising, a last stand against the Nazis by Jews in the ghetto who were set to be deported and killed. His comments were first reported by Jewish Insider.
...
Exploiting the museum and the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising to sanitize Globalize the Intifada is outrageous and especially offensive to survivors, the museum said in a statement. Since 1987, Jews have been attacked and murdered under its banner. All leaders must condemn its use and the abuse of history. (The First Intifada against Israel began in 1987.)

But Jew-hate is quite fashionable these days, so this utterance may actually boost his popularity.

FTR, there are about 2,109,300 Jews in greater NYC, representing approximately 10.8% of the worlds' population.
New York really sucks at this picking mayoral candidates thing.

Find yourselves a worthy cause, and yet still manage to turn receptive people against you.

the same group that celebrated the October 7 attacks. It is not surprising he would make such a comparison
