Microsoft reportedly plans thousands more layoffs

Microsoft Corp. (Nasdaq: MSFT) is reportedly planning thousands more layoffs, according to a report by Bloomberg Wednesday.

The cuts, which would primarily affect sales employees, come amid the Redmond-based software giant's efforts to trim its workforce as it boosts spending on artificial intelligence, according to the report, which cites people familiar with the plan.

It's unclear when the layoffs would begin as the timing is still subject to change, the report states, though they're expected to be announced in early July.

Microsoft declined to comment.
