Department of Homeland Security vehicles with masked agents were stationed Thursday morning outside Dodger Stadium, in another sign of the raids sweeping Southern California.
It is unclear what operation the federal agents were carrying out or whether anyone in the area was arrested. Images of the government vehicles immediately played out on social media and fueled speculation about their activities. The agents declined to say why they were at the stadium when asked by a Times reporter.
The vehicles appeared to be staging near the downtown parking lot entrance to the stadium, which was empty Thursday morning except for a small contingent of local media.
According to multiple people with knowledge of the situation who were not authorized to speak publicly, agents were denied entry to the Dodger Stadium grounds when they attempted to enter the parking lots.

Dodgers to announce plans to assist immigrant communities affected by ICE raids in Los Angeles
According to multiple reports, including one from the Los Angeles Times, the Los Angeles Dodgers are expected to announce on Thursday a sweeping new initiative to assist immigrant communities impacted by the recent federal crackdown.
Its a long-awaited response to a moment thats left scars on the city and raised serious questions about the franchises identity.
The Dodgers, for all their Hall of Fame history and Hollywood glitz, are not just a baseball team. They are a cultural institution in a city where nearly 2 million residents speak Spanish and where the immigrant experience is as foundational as palm trees and sunsets over the Pacific Ocean.
So when the ICE raids began sweeping through Latino communities earlier this month igniting protests, military interventions, and a federal lawsuit many looked to the team for guidance, or at the very least, a simple acknowledgement.

More masks among those federal agents than any legitimate demographic I can think of.

LOS ANGELES The Los Angeles Dodgers announced on Thursday they blocked federal immigration agents from entering its stadium as dozens of anti-ICE protesters gathered outside of the sports venue.
On social media, the Major League Baseball team said that federal agents working with Immigration and Customs Enforcement arrived at the stadium and "requested permission to access the parking lots."
"They were denied entry to the grounds by the organization," the Dodgers said, adding that their game against the Padres will go on on the stadium as scheduled.
Demonstrators standing outside the stadium's gates were seen holding signs and chanting "ICE out of L.A." and "ICE go home" as several dark SUV vehicles stood on the opposite side of the road. Some of the federal agents appeared to be wearing Homeland Security uniforms.
The federal agents who showed up in those vehicles were turned away from entering the stadium gates, two sources familiar with the matter told NBC News.
