James Clyburn endorses sex pest Andrew Cuomo

I mean, WTF?! He even praises his “character”?

(And people wonder why David Hogg has traction for his ideas on primarying some safe seat Dems…)

That Clyburn thinks Andrew Cuomo is part of the future of the Democratic Party - and points to his character!!! — is the problem with the current Democratic Party leadership in a nutshell.

I'm trying to figure out here how you came to that conclusion & I can't.
I see it as quite the opposite. Cuomo would've gotten his clock cleaned bad. Like really bad. Why? Because we Democrats have standards & values. 2 sex pests going at it would've had millions of voters on our side staying home. Cuomo would have absolutely tanked outside of NY. It's also important to remember that Der Cheeto is popular among his base to the point it's a literal cult.

We are not lofty, aspirational and don't look for pie in the sky ideals.

David Hogg will end up the same as Sanders . . . never getting a majority of Black voters to support his candidates.

Everyone is fallible, no one is perfect and can we be honest here? Here at DU?

Why trust one white male politico over another? None if them are any good and will always throw us away.

Me? Game recognizes game. Who can match Trumps energy?

That's why Im fearful that Sherrill is going to lose in NJ. She's not dark enough (spiritually) or cynical enough to move Black voters to the polls.

Cuomo is a cynic - that's world in his favor.

There’s literally zero “pragmatism” in voting for a serial sexual harasser. Dems look feckless and utterly tone deaf when we’re such hypocrites.

Sorry there’s just not any reason for this. There’s very viable alternatives in Brad Lander or even Zohran Mamdani (or pick another Dem in the race). At least Mamdani condemns Israel - that appears to have been a huge litmus test just a few months ago

But the language of "rigged" was started by Sanders in the 2016 Primary.

Hogg is refining the language. Both make strong arguments for white men being catered to and molly coddled by the Democratic Party.

I believe that the majority of white men cannot be won in my lifetime (I'm 52). My husband is a dual citizen (took oath in Nov 2020) . He was raised around former Italian fascists. My mom's dad can be seen in Pictures with Eisenhower at concentration camps post WW2. My dads maternal great grandfather (Scots Irish immigrant) was off the boat and conscripted into the CSA Army. Between 1890 and 1900 he was changed from white to Negro in the Census, because his half Cherokee daughter had the gall to marry a Black doctor.

Why were those 3 white men reachable?

They know how bad things can get.

I suspect neither Hogg nor Sanders know who Adriana Smith is.

My husband was teary-eyed when he learned of her death. That's the difference. He's written the State Government demanding they pay for her medical bills or he will personally sue on her behalf.

He means it. That was me. I'm real and I'm here.

Colour me very unimpressed at times with some of my fellow black Americans so-called 'pragmatism'. Especially the fundie christian homophobic ones, many of them down South, but far far from limited to that area. Same for the misogynistic ones.

Were the 3 out of 10 black men under 45yo (and 25 per cent overall, all age groups for black men) who voted Trump in 2024 being 'pragmatic'?

Economy and jobs made men under age 45 more open to Trump

Voters overall cited the economy and jobs as the most important issue the country faced. That was true for Black and Hispanic voters as well.

About 3 in 10 Black men under age 45 went for Trump, roughly double the share he got in 2020. Young Latinos, particularly young Latino men, also were more open to Trump than in 2020. Roughly half of young Latino men voted for Harris, compared with about 6 in 10 who went for Biden.

Part of Baraka's appeal to me last week was the fact that he had been arrested by the regime.

I also thought it was time NJ finally distinguished itself from The country - CSA- and elected a Black Governor. (We didn't ratify the 13th until January 1866).

Just enough Black voters made the pragmatic decision for game to match game. Sherrill for Whitman.

I watched majorities in every racial demographic in America with the exception of Black Americans vote for an unAmerican traitor raping thieving Russia loving racist last November.

Parallels between who is accused of being pro-genocide and who is pragmatic. Same shit, different outrage.

This Trump Admin is different.

The 92% - including myself - are not coming to anyone's rescue... But ourselves.

I start from here:
This Regime does not end with a political solution.
After the Regime is toppled - that's when things get REALLY bad.

Anyone who denies us full humanity (5 Fifths), or whines about minority states (Wyoming) not having a seat at the table, needs to get the Malcolm X treatment from Us. This country can get back in our good graces by caving to these two demands.

I posit this - Cuomo is proving Black women right about AmeriKKKa- and that is a very uncomfortable truth.

WHY does our smirking make one uncomfortable?

I remember Andrew Cuomo being referred to as the real President during the pandemic when MAGAts were taking horse meds and shining lights up their asses, some standing idly by while others profited from selling the US supplies, while millions of Americans died. I also remember Moscow Mitch calling for New York to declare bankruptcy during this time, and Gov. Cuomo asking him who would pay MM's bills if NY declared bankruptcy. He stood up, for us.

Interesting that a man considered by many in the country to be a hero was then demonized and tossed aside. No one else finds that suspect? No one else remembers when Al Franken was one of the most effective Democratic senators and was railroaded into resigning because his own party couldn't recognize a blatant right wing hit job??

The MAGAts threw that shit right into our faces and laughed their asses off watching Democrats blindly dash off to self destruct yet again because of manufactured right wing MAGAt bullshit, and bullshit purity politics!

This knee jerk demonization of every effective Democrat is HIGHLY suspect to me.

But this may be a smarter move than people are giving him credit for to stop Adams from being reelected.

There’s a chance of ranked choice voting knocking Cuomo out. Mamdani and Lander have “cross endorsed” each other for this purpose.

If either of them win, I think Adams has a decent chance of winning reelection by consolidating the black vote. I don’t see Mamdani or Lander doing that. Cuomo would be much more competitive in this regard.

Cuomo is an ass hole, but Mamdani is borderline antisemitic and is just a terrible fit for the city. I know most disagree but a democratic socialist mayor would be a godsend for republicans nationwide. I would expect an exodus of companies headquartered there. Lost jobs wouldn’t surprise me either. Either way, his proposals are all pie in the sky. There’s no practical way of paying for anything.

Sorry, I just don’t see understand why Israel is so fucking important for the fate of NYC. I don’t like what Israel is doing. It’s insane. But mayors aren’t elected to conduct foreign policy. Sad to say, but Cuomo seems like the only sane choice here.

The Black vote is solidly in Coumo’s corner, he’s got this primary wrapped up with that kind of support

I know about AOC and Sanders endorsing. And Michael Blake and Brad Lander co endorsing. And Move On’s.

But I hadn’t read that he was soliciting Clyburn’s.

you had first hand knowledge or had a quite from the campaign staying it. Some kind of actual knowledge. If you stated it as your opinion, well that’s different.

The only two candidates that have a chance of winning the primary are Cuomo and Zohran, and he can't endorse the latter. The rest are all polling in single digits.

Those are the only two (imo) with a realistic chance of winning.

A car pulls over to the side of the road, with a bit of steam coming from under the hood. Andrew is a re-tread tire in the cart's trunk. But that is not what is needed at this time.
