Dec 2012

Thirteen Republicans voted against the rule that brought the Plan B measure to the floor, which is a high number of defections for a procedural vote.

Among the defections on the procedural motion were Reps. Justin Amash (Mich.), Paul Broun (Ga.), Louie Gohmert (Texas), Tim Huelskamp (Kan.), Walter Jones (N.C.), Ron Paul (Texas), Jean Schmidt (Ohio) and Joe Walsh (Ill.).

Yeah, that will teach em to vote for a different Speaker of the House.

Boner isn't very smart. You usually threaten in private and in couched language. Perhaps he has taken to the bottle too early after breakfast.

Are the Republicans really going to put up for a vote increasing taxes, even if just on millionaires, and expect it to pass with just Republican support?

That never made any sense to me. Why would the party of "no tax increases!" vote to increase taxes at all, especially just for show?

9. House Republicans cancel Plan B vote
Thu Dec 20, 2012, 09:13 PM
Dec 2012

House Republican leaders canceled a vote on a tax-cut plan linked to fiscal-cliff talks on Thursday night, saying it didn't have the votes to pass. The Republicans' "Plan B" would have extended tax cuts on incomes below $1 million. President Obama had said he would veto the bill, and House Speaker John Boehner said in a statement that it's up to Obama and Senate Democrats to avert the fiscal cliff. U.S. stock index futures moved lower after the news, with Dow Jones Industrial Average futures down 0.2%, while Japanese stocks, which were trading at the time, came off their early highs

Boner's dilemma...he either sucks up to the teabaggers who comprise a majority of his party's inept caucus or he tries to pry away 25 to join with Democrats to get a deal passed (mostly on Democratic terms). He's screwn.
