It's true! There have been nearly 500 murders in Chicago in 2012!

So what?

Yeah, I'm going to address the "so what?" I've taken a minute to tease out demographics from the most recent (2005) data I've found. In so doing, I've uncovered the "so what?"

In 2005, 451 people were murdered in Chicago. Of those, 75% (338) were gun related. Of the 451 murders, 94% (425) of the victims were non-white, and 94% (426) of the offenders were non-white. Of the white victims, 3% were gang related. So...it turns out the "so what?" is that, of the 451 murders, 21 were white, non-gang victims.

What was the purpose of this exercise you ask?
Things don't change until white people with money are the victims.
